Bulletin Board changes

The lease on Greg's existing server expires on 14th August, so between now and then I will be migrating various boards/domains to an alternative hoster.

This will affect the chipboard, strike board, slot card board, club site & board, and the 'shells' of the chipguide and nevadaones (ie that data which has not already been moved to themogh.org)

This is a huge task. Aside from moving all the date and effecting domain registration moves between countries, the boards will utilise the latest version of software, some 10 releases ahead of where we are now.
Part of the reason is that the current version actually expires in Jan 2011 and is no longer supported.

There will be some down times (scheduled and accidental grin )
Some things cant be tested until after migration and I dont know when domain registration transfers will take place.
Also you will have to bear with me if some non-BB functions or links dont work straight away.

I will deal with one domain at a time, starting with the slot card board (where I already made an earlier post on the old board).
I will try and give warning of the scheduled down times. If you are seeing this message then I guess the first part worked grin

The new software will be made to look as close as possible to the existing boards. There are some new features as well.

Existing profiles will be carried forward. No-one needs to have a profile to post (as now) but having one will enable more features.
If you dont have one yet then wait until we are live as Ive already migrated the existing ones.
If you have one and cant remember your user name or password I can delete it and you can set up a new one.

You will have to create new cookies the first time you use the new boards if you want everything to function properly. Instructions will be posted when relevant.

All existing posts (and archives) will hopefully be migrated successfully. Not an easy job with over 1 million files.
Domain names will remain unchanged.
